The Majority of our clients are nothing but a pleasure to work with and it is a bit emotional when they come here to our care and even more so when they leave. But every now and then we have some exceptions and As the old saying Goes We are Happy with all our clients...Happy to see them come and learn and grow and with a few Happy to see them go....
One of these latter Parents was Sue Scheff the self Lauded "Advocate for Parents" founder of P.U.R.E who spends her time telling everyone how great she is on the Internet and how bad we supposedly were ...she was one we were happy to see her come and enroll here child in Carolina Springs and happy to have her support the program while that season lasted but was even happier when she left.
At some point Miss Scheff was involved in some form of sexual harassment suit with her former Boss in Florida who had placed their child also in our care. Her Boss had originally refereed Ms. Sheff to our program and As their suit progressed their Issues effected the kids and therefore the school.

Our Discomfort with Ms. Scheff began in earnest when she tried to put the kids in between the legal battle she was raging with her then boss and herself....she called us and demanded that we expel her Bosses Daughter from the program that was nearing completion.
Ms Scheff who is quite a Salesperson in nature had become a great source of student referrals and enrollments to our program and was actually marketing the program very actively in Florida when we encountered this impasse... She was receiving compensation for the referrals and admissions from one of the many marketing admission companies that marketed us full time. As a matter of fact they considered her one of their top marketers for the process and she was said to have enrolled over 200 students. So we of course was very supportive of her professionally and personally,
But this issue we felt was about principle and that the welfare of the two students involved here outweighed any marketing prow-less and acumen that Ms Scheff had.
We of course told Ms. Scheff that we were not interested in her personal differences with another students Parents and that we would greatly appreciate if she wouldn't act in such a unprofessional manor by pulling kids or the school into her adult conflicts. She was also told we would gladly transfer her child to another associated facility to help the resolve the conflict she had initiated and was pushing... Ms. Scheff refused.
We even went so far as to ask the other parents if they would consider transferring to the other school and they said they loved the school and the changes it had made in their daughter and that they wouldn't consider any such thing seeing their child was so close to graduation. We told Ms Scheff that we would talk with the other parties but that if they were not interested that we wouldn't try to force it ether way but to simply keep these issues out of our school and the minor aged students involved before we approached the other parents.
When we got back with Sue She was furious and very entitled and demanded again that we kicked out this other student and their family we of course refused and asked her to consider the transfer option again she was very unprofessional in some of her comments and a couple of weeks latter pulled her child from the school and quite frankly we were happy ether way.
Soon we heard that she was Involved in a referral scandal at the Marketing company wherein she and a marketing staff Marie Peart were illegally taking credit on new admissions calling them after admit and telling them if they would lie and say that she had refereed them they would split the compensation. The staff involved and Ms Scheff were fired and that effectively ended any association with ourselves and Ms Scheff.....We again were happy to see her come and of course by then happy to see her go...
It is our understanding that Ms Scheff has her own Marketing company and along with Ms Peart is paid quite handsomely per student placement or enrollments that she dose with other programs that are basically competitors to us. They now make quite a living claiming that our facilities was somehow deficient and that we somehow abused her child.
I remind the reader that both of these persons were staunch supporters of our process and refereed over 500 students to the school between them both, until they were caught in a web of lies and deceit. Then suddenly overnight Instead of being the Greatest thing since peanut butter we did nothing but abuse her child. This of course is ludicrous and what benefit would we derive with the mis-care of any child? It would just get us closed and would destroy our business.
This has to do simply with money and as my mama used to say "just follow the money or who benefits on any given issue and you typically find the truth."
Our experience of Ms Scheff is that she is trouble anywhere she goes and that what she has stated publicly and personally on the Internet is in direct conflict with the facts; that she loved our program and we have her letters expressing just that and what she told literally hundreds of parents when she was actively marketing for us. I am enclosing a letter she wrote to me when she was in the process here with us and you can decide for yourself what the truth is for yourselves.
Magnolia Christian and or Carolina Springs has never had a founded case of abuse in over 13 years of operation the majority of which was under D.S.S license.
Ms Sheff uses all kinds of deceptive and dishonest tactics on the internet. In fact in a case she claims she won against the WWASP the judge reprimanded her use of chat rooms wherein she would log into chat room dealing with troubled kids and impersonate her chat persona as a licensed therapist who then with such perceived authority then would make recommendations to other parents to go to the facilities she was pushing and was receiving compensation from and at the same time make disparaging remarks on the reputations of the facilities she was previously affiliated with.
Ms. Sheff uses illegal trade torts and fraud to market competing facilities frankly we don't care what she chooses to do as long as our name isn't involved with her little reindeer games. Unfortunately she continues uses our name in the negative to send her clients to proven abusive facilities such as Whitmore academy. see information and links below.

Recently, A lawsuit was filed By the Green family in Broward County Florida against both Sue Scheff and Focal Point Academy. It is alleged that Sue Scheff fraudulently misrepresented her relationship with Focal Point Academy on many matters. for example:
“20. In April, 2006, Scheff also represented that she was not a licensed educational therapist, and therefore was not paid for her work, and that she was only making referrals based on the interests of the children.
2I. Scheff in no way disclosed that she was being paid for referring R.G. and others to Defendant Focal Point on a per-child basis. Contrary to Sheff misrepresentations, Defendant Horlacher later disclosed that Focal Point Academy pays Scheff money for each student she refers to the school.”
It should be noted that Sue Scheff admitted under oath in the WWASP vs PURE court case that she recieves compensation from schools for referrals. She claims that this is only done on a “donation” basis but on page 401 of the WWASP vs. PURE transcripts, Marie Peart (One of Sue’s employees) testifies that she would threaten schools to cut off referrals if they did not pay.
The above allegations by the Greens are also very similar to those of Joyce Harris and her husband, Richard (whose dautghter was referred to the now defuct Whitmore Academy by Sue Scheff):
“We asked her point-blank if we had to pay her, or if she got paid for her services.
She said NO!
She said that she only did this work to make sure that no child is ever placed in a dangerous
place like the WWASP programs. She said….that her reward is knowing that all children are
placed in a safe, loving, caring place like the Whitmore.
She SIMPLY LIED TO US. Sue Scheff refers these children to make money!”
It should be noted that the above statement (full copy available here) was made under penalty of perjury. In response to Joyce’s complaint, Sue Scheff went on the warpath against Joyce Harris, posting what Joyce (and many others who know her) allege to be defamatory statements about her in Sue’s blogs about Whitmore Academy. The Harris family’s sworn statement goes on to say:
“I wrote to Sue Scheff, telling her that we removed our daughter from the Whitmore, and why.
Not only did Sue Scheff write back expressing her continued support of the Sudweeks, she attacked me, the mother. She repeated outright lies about what happened at the Whitmore the night we went with a police escort to pick up our daughter.
We suppose she must support the Sudweeks, because we understand that most, if not all of the placements at Whitmore Academy are referred there by Sue Scheff or P.U.R.E. That speaks for itself as far as we are concerned.”
One could suppose that Sue Scheff’s next move would be to post similar statements about the Green Family and use her contacts at “Reputation Defender” to suppress their voice, as has been done to the past, including, I allege, to this very blog.
